Mark Oliver


Mark started his career in 5 Airborne Brigade and as a Jungle Warfare instructor and demolitions officer before moving after 11 years into the civilian world.

He has run leadership development and assessment courses since 1986 in both military and commercial environments in Australia, New Zealand, USA (in Washington, San Hose and Dallas), UK, Switzerland, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Africa, Dubai, Brunei, Belize, South Korea, the Falkland Islands and Fujairah UAE, involving participants from around the world.

Over the last 30 years he has designed and facilitated both “train-the-trainer” advanced leadership courses, as well as mastering competency programs and specialised assessment courses, for Australian 'Top 100' and American 'Fortune 500' companies. He is also an executive coach to a few of Australia's leading companies.

These courses focussed on leadership, self-leadership and self-awareness in both professional and personal life. He specialises in differentiating between management and leadership in a practical way.

Mark set up the international consultancy, MarkTwo Consulting, in 2002 to provide advanced leadership programs and saw the need to create MarkTwo Consulting's highly innovative and holistic Universal Hierarchy of Motivation (UHM) leadership development tool, despite his vast range of accreditations in international organisational psychometric instruments.  

It has shed new insights on human intelligence and helps people to enhance their self-awareness and self-leadership in both professional and personal life. Recent advances in neuroscience have validated the UHM theory.

His drive for guiding people to be the best leaders they can be at home and work, combined with his deep knowledge and unique take on "authentic" leadership as a driver of business performance, has made MarkTwo's courses highly sought after in Asia-Pacific.

Mark is committed to helping people be the best leaders they can be in order to improve their families, communities, businesses, nations and this planet. He is a public speaker, and has been interviewed on Australian national TV, and both Hong Kong and Australian prime time radio on matters to do with capability, selection, recruitment and assessment.

Mark began his education at Cambridge University and is trained in a form of Jungian psychology as well as internationally credentialled in 25 different organizational psychology instruments for assessment and development. He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development, Life Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Facilitators, Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

He is also qualified in the more unusual areas of Jungle Warfare Instructor, Helicopter Abseiling Despatcher, Range Firing Officer, Demolitions Officer, and Arrest and Restraints Instructor.

Mark has published three books: MOTIVATIONAL LEADERSHIP - breaks 10 common myths on intelligence, THE SEVEN MOTIVATIONS OF LIFE - about life and leadership both personal and professional, and A HIMALAYAN TRINITY - about journeys through serious illness and across the Himalayas.

He has Dual Citizenship (EU/AUS) and lives in Melbourne Australia with his wife, Ruth.
