Highly engaged employees produce higher levels of productivity and customer service resulting in 17% more operating margin and 400% more shareholder value.

Good leadership increases engagement much more than management. But to consciously improve your leadership you must understand it. To do so you must answer the big questions in life such as:

Who am I?
What is my purpose?
Where am I going?
How can I lead myself and others more effectively?

You can use the carrot and stick to manage people, but treat people like donkeys and they will act like donkeys. To lead it helps to accept that we are all leaders, at times, in life. At the very least life demands that we lead ourselves and in Confucius' words: 'to become a leader you must first become a human being'.

My book, THE SEVEN MOTIVATIONS OF LIFE, helps you to understand more fully what being human means. It provides an in-depth basis for evaluation of individual and group behaviour across creed, culture or country. It defines key characteristics of being human and explains the practical findings of what makes a great leader.

The theory is explained using the Universal Hierarchy of Motivation (UHM) framework derived by me through extensive research and empirical evidence.
