The “lockdown experience” has significantly worsened the turnover situation.

According to Microsoft’s 2021 World Trend Index: 45% of people feel overworked, 39% say they are exhausted and 40% are considering changing jobs in the next year! The same situation is happening in Australia. My client, a leader in its field, is experiencing a shortage of employees with the job vacancy rate of 12%.

Up to 70% of employees who leave companies state that their boss (aka manager) is the main reason they left.

Lack of leadership damages employees in surprising ways, with one study finding that working for a bad manager caused a 60% increase in the risk of heart attack for their employees. The research shows having a bad boss has the same negative health impact as smoking!

On the other hand, the good news is that up to 30% of people reported they were staying and contributing because of good leadership.
