Background and Experience

Michael is an experienced HR, leadership and Organisation Development Consultant. For the past 20 years he has worked with multinational companies across the world to deliver large-scale leadership transformation projects involving complex human resource and culture change challenges.

Michael’s professional expertise spans OD strategy, leadership development, talent management, succession management, people capability development and culture transformation. Michael has performed a lead role in developing coaching practices as well as being instrumental in helping to grow business in China.

Career Highlights

  • Designing and implementing the coaching assessment and selection system, coaching methodology, coach development and review programs, and the integration and alignment with other development and assessment practices
  • Designing and implementing senior and middle management leadership development programs – classroom, coaching and other less structured interventions - to support the succession management strategy at multiple levels in Aon; driving a performance culture through the design and implementation of leader performance management development programs, and extensive individual coaching over 8 years
  • Providing senior assessment and development expertise to the most senior levels of leadership of a global HR consultancy, and providing ongoing development feedback to drive strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, organizational performance and relationship capability
  • Developing a senior leadership team targeted competency profile that would underpin the development of local leaders to replace expatriates at Briggs & Stratton (China). Including the design of the assessment and feedback protocols and implemented the program which led to the design of individual development programs that would provide for organizational effectiveness and sustainability
  • Lead coaching a team of six coaches at Australia’s largest digital advertiser, developed the methodology and practices to deliver leadership development through senior executive coaching that would drive organisational culture change that to bring about excellence in the customer experience and support the introduction of NPS
  • Developing an organisation-wide competency framework to underpin HR management processes and practices for a global oil and gas provider. The framework provides HR and line of business with a single reference source for recruiting, performance management, learning & development, reward management and talent management
  • Working in China between 2004-2006, and predominantly across north and South East Asia from 2001 to 2007, to provide strong support in growing the local arm of a global consulting business. Michael’s intimate involvement in the sales process was been instrumental in the massive growth in the consulting business in Mainland China and Hong Kong and, with his strong coaching skills contributed significantly to the building of capability in local consulting teams in these countries, supporting an increase of 270% in revenue over 12 months.
