Leading the Field

MarkTwo Consulting designs assessment and development interventions to stretch and enthuse participants. They meet the organizations specific needs while using the latest human behavoiural knowledge in the field of human intelligence and performance. MarkTwo Consulting is, in many ways, one of the leaders in this area. For example in the area of development; Danah Zohar who teaches the Oxford Strategic Leadership programme at Oxford University, brought out her highly acclaimed book Spiritual Intelligence in 2000 concluding that there are only three fundamental intelligences (she sees Martin Gardiner's Seven Intelligences as subsets of these three intelligences which she has identified).

MarkTwo Consulting has identified four fundamental intelligences in the book published in 2003- IQ, EQ, SQ and Physical Intelligence (PQ).  People who are very spatially aware, such as gymnasts, typically have high PQ and it is also is demonstrated by people who can 'walk into a room' and notice every detail.  Leading authorities, such as Stephen Covey (the author of the best selling book - The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People ) and Danah Zohar (the author of Spiritual Intelligence) have also been identifying similar intelligences.

In the area of assessment, Mark Oliver has been strongly advising companies since 1993 to make sure that all applicants are treated ethically, challenged and put through a professional process. He has recommended this partly because applicants will make decisions to join the company based significantly on their experience of the selection process the organization uses.

Academics in the field have only relatively recently described a phenomenon which they apparently call 'the dark side of the moon' and it relates to their observation that candidates make decisions about joining the organisation on the basis of the selection process they are put through. Lately more evidence has been collected showing that the more challenging the selection process applicants are subjected to then the greater the number who tend to apply (and accept offers).
