Background and Experience
Having gained a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, David joined Myer as a graduate trainee. Over the following thirteen years he progressed through store and HR roles. These included HR Manager for Victoria and Tasmania, and later Training & Development manager for Victoria and Tasmania, where he was responsible for implementing a company wide management program starting with Directors and moving down through the organization. His last role was as National Staff Productivity Manager, which encompassed staff scheduling, loss prevention, incentive schemes and product knowledge across all merchandise categories and all states.
David was approached to join McEwans, a national hardware chain, as head of HR. During this time he oversaw from a HR perspective, the incorporation of three other interstate businesses. This included staff 'rationalisation' union negotiations and the development of company wide job evaluation and remuneration systems.
David left McEwans after six years to pursue a consulting career where he has concentrated on areas of recruitment, training & development, management assessment and coaching. He has worked as a consultant for nine years for a number of assessment specialist companies and been involved in management assessments and feedback for a wide variety of organizations, including telco's banks and retail organizations.
Career Highlights
David has also spent time with Victoria University in both developing and conducting retail and general management courses. Subject matter has included retail management, procurement, managing strategically and facilitating change. In addition he has conducted standard diploma level units as part of the FMI (Frontline Management Initiative)

As a past state president and national board member of AHRI, David has a wealth of experience and expertise within the HR and Training fields.
