Ian Paterson

Background and Experience

Ian brings to his facilitation, executive coaching and consulting clients more than 20 years experience gained across a range of Organisational Development, HR, Sales, Sales Management and General Management roles. 

After an early career as a musician with the Australian Army, and two and a half years furthering his musical study in West Berlin, Ian returned to Australia and gained his early organisational experience with National Mutual (AXA) in a range of administration, training and development and HR roles.  Ian then joined the global organisational development consultancy Development Dimensions International (DDI) where his career encompassed consulting, business development and leadership roles within both sales and general management.  DDI’s clients were typically drawn from the ASX Top 200.  Ian’s general manager roles at DDI and later Harbour Future Leaders, included accountability for the management and development of a team of consultants and support staff, the acquisition and ongoing development of key client relationships and the financial performance of his region.  His success over these years have included three times VIP sales status, year on year profit and revenue growth and media contributions on key people issues including succession management and assessment and development centres.  His consulting success included the development and delivery of Talent and Succession Management processes and leadership development programs for major clients.
