Background and Experience
Shane holds an undergraduate Arts Degree and a post-graduate Diploma of Education from The Flinders University of South Australia. He also served as an officer, up to the rank of Squadron Leader, in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the RAAF Active Reserve, in instructor, training analyst and training management positions. He commenced his career serving as an Education Officer in the RAAF where he was initially employed in delivering instructional techniques courses to Navy, Army and Airforce aircrew (pilots, navigators, airborne electronics analysts, flight engineers and loadmasters).
After leaving the full-time Airforce in 1997, Shane worked in corporate consulting, account management and sales management roles. Hi's recent project experience includes providing contracted training analysis services for the Australian Army, RAAF and the Simulation Industry Association of Australia.
One of his Majors through his Arts Degree was English and this has provided a foundation for his work in designing and delivering communication and interpersonal skills training for learners in various sectors.
Shane has worked with a wide range of organisations and is a member of the Australian Institute of Training. He is currently qualifying as an international Master Trainer.
Career Highlights
Shane was an instructor at the RAAF College Officers' Training School and was responsible for delivering intensive ab initio leadership and written and oral communications skills training for RAAF Officers.
In 2003 he spent a year in Tokyo, Japan teaching English conversation skills to students at various levels of ability and across all age groups.
Expertise
Following on from Shane's RAAF experience and through his corporate roles he has developed his skills in appropriately pitching training interventions to meet individual development needs.
He has designed, delivered, project managed and evaluated training projects for a number of public and private sector organisations. Many of these projects have focused on competency based training and assessment linked to Australian Quality Training Framework standards as well as flexible learning strategies.
